There’s a melancholy that comes with the winding down of a season, there’s a sadness that comes when we face down the fact that what was, will not be again, and that what is, won’t stop coming. We fear this, we tremble in the face of the truth of it, and we turn to run. Why we do this, I understand, but I don’t believe we have to, I don’t believe we’re fated to constantly suffer the pull from the past, the aching tug of the future. We can be where we are, and we can stay there sometimes, too.
