Two days ago, I turned 44 years old. I don’t know how this happened, I don’t understand how so many days have turned to months, months turn to years, and years into decades, but they did, and they continue to roll on, and I don’t know what to make of this. I feel washed and tossed in a sea of emotions knowing that I am somehow not the 17 year old I once was, not the 5 year old before that, not the infant held in arms. Time is a funny little beast, and I’ve long understood I’ll never truly grasp its machinations.
