Happy Friday you lot, you random riff raff scattered out across this planet. Speaking of RIFF RAFF, my dear weef and I both took the plunge and immortalized not only her bakery name, but the fact that when it comes to the types of people we have always been between the high falutin’ and the alternative, we’ll always be the Riff Raff, by getting it tattooed on us the other day. Proud riff raffians, always will be.
Anyway, it’s a Friday and since there’s no Matchbook this week (but will be next week!) I decided you all deserved a brand new, never-before-shared-or-read-aloud (that’s a lot of hyphens) Typewriter Series poem. Why the f not?
This one is the origin of Sarah and I, the four words that I say began it all. I asked her a question, her answer was 4 simple words: Of Course I Do. Those four words were the proof I was so desperate to have, the proof that her heart was where my heart was, and that I wouldn’t have to spend an eternity loving someone that couldn’t love me back. I have those 4 words engraved on the inside of my wedding ring, I repeat them like a mantra when I’m low, and I believe they were the genesis of this love that, by now, you all know so well. It’s strange how something so simple can begin something so complex, how only a few words, if dared to be uttered, can come if you have the courage to ask the question. Trust your hearts, friends, trust them and risk looking foolish with your love, it’s the only way to end where you’re meant to end.
At any rate, the poem will be posted below for all of you that have so generously upgraded your subscription and helped me keep this place running. I’m going to be posting A LOT of new poetry here, a lot more regularly, so if you’ve been thinking about joining us as part of the exclusive light chaser community, there’s literally never been a better time. Plus, full disclosure, times have been very tough financially on our end (as I’m very sure every one else’s too) and we’re starting to panic a bit about the big downturn in booking our wedding/elopement/photography gigs. Every little bit helps keep this place running. At any rate, here for the first time, is Typewriter Series #3092.
And, for those of you who like hearing me read stuff aloud, here’s a quick record of just the poem that I did on my shitty Snowball mic. Next time I’ll give you a proper reading/rundown. How’s that?
I love you all. Thanks for being here.
Tyler!! And Sarah!!! You two are so amazing!! My husband and I belong to the riff raff, too! ;) I love this new poem and am so happy to see new stuff again. :) <3
You two are the best. I love the typewriter series, forever and always.
