To stand beneath them, to soak ourselves in the water that falls, bathe like baptism in the the mountains that rise like giants from the floor of the earth.  To ramble down the roads, to kick dust like incense smoke, to call it offering to the whispering spirit of this ancient place.  To know them all and have them know us in turn,  to call them their names, those they wore before these that were given,   to hold them in memory like intimate ones, those that know our skin, bare and raw and coated in their mist and dirt.    To seek them together.    -Tyler Knott Gregson-

It’s no secret I revere wild places, wild creatures, above almost all else. I live at the foot of wild mountains, miles and miles of them, and when we leave them we most often travel far to find more wilderness beyond. When I’m given the opportunity to write poetry for people about this love, about this deeply held love that is shared, I feel lucky. Just lucky.

This poem is an ode to the wild places, and to those that seek them.
