If you didn’t do an audio version of the Sunday edition, I would miss your intros! They always make me laugh. I don’t want to choose either option for the Matchbook because I’m somewhere in between- I like them but usually save them to come back to later when I have more time to check out your links… but sometimes I don’t get back to them…

I like the writing prompts but sometimes I don't get to them so maybe a every other week thing? I think I'd be fun to do prompts inspired by your photos too!

I don't currently listen to the audio because I watch everything on silent, on my phone, because I'm usually consuming content while my son naps.... Otherwise I would very much like to listen to the audio!

I'm really enjoying everything so far.... I would just ask that whenever you have the time or capacity to share, that you will answer the questions you post! I know most of your time goes to facilitating this community so you might not have the time or energy but it would be a fun way to get to know you better, too! 😊

This space you have created is truly wonderful. The writing prompts are my particular favorite, they’ve allowed me to reconnect with a part of myself I lost and I am forever grateful for that. I personally feel you can continue to let this space grow and flow from you organically, because when it comes down to it what makes this so special is You. Trust yourself!

I like all the things (the promts, the matchbook, the sunday edition). I don't always have the mental capacity for responding to the prompts or the energy to go through all the things in the matchbook, but I look forward to them :)

I especially like the audio version of the sunday edition! I would probably miss many of the sunday editions if there was no audio version. The audio is often more accessible for me (a person with chronic illness/disability.) Often I am too fatigued or in too much pain to have good reading comprehension, so being able to listen to the Sunday edition is awesome. My auditory processing is usually ok, so I appreciate that I can access the Sunday edition via the audio version, even when I'm having a extra hard day with my illness.

Love the writing prompts, even if I don’t share that often—they almost always inspire my writing in some way and I’m truly grateful for that.

Obsessed with your haikus 😍🥰and love the writing Typewriter series posts!! (re- reading your book this year:) an idea here but I think it'd be an AWESOME (after posts of yours) telling us about the times you were in at the time you wrote them at that exact point ... whether good or bad times of your life; how you pressed thru. 🤍💜

Tyler, your effort in so many ways is appreciated! This year has brought MASSIVE changes to my life and I'm still navigating them, which has been time consuming. Although I haven't been present here nearly as much as I'd like, this place feels like a warm haven that I can return to when life is quieter and more aspects are resolved, which I'm looking forward to. Please keep the content coming, your writing and the wonderful discoveries you share, because those are salve for my soul. 💗

So, I just wanted to comment how unfair your questions were... I don't get to do ALL of anything. I read the Sunday posts, and listen when I can, but this doesn't mean NEVER or that your audio doesn't have immense value. And sometimes when I've read an email that..hits. Really hits. I'll go back and listen, to process it differently and see what else comes from being able to have the words go straight to my brain without the visual input, or distractions of the rest of the world (tl:dr I close my eyes). What I'm babbling about is that answering 100% in either direction made me either feel guilty for sorta kinda lying or like you weren't getting the whole story on how valuable I find what you put into the world. Silly, right?

The only reason I don't listen to the audio is because of time crunches in my own life. I listen to them when I can. Same thing with the matchbook links, rarely do i have time to check em out but when i do there's always something interesting and fun there. thank u for all u do! and you're not wrong, about rocking that ace ventura MH hospital escapee look. maybe a grass skirt next time?

I love all that you do and really enjoy the Instagram stuff too! Like many others, I just got so busy in my day that I have to come back to the emails. Or I start to think of something to reply for the writing prompts and then get distracted and never post.

¨Do you REALLY listen to the Audio version of the Sunday Edition?¨

Nope. Not ever. Not because of you because I essentially never listen to podcasts (and I also don´t watch TV news, either).

Generally, I prefer my ears to be available to listen to ambient noise, or listen to music and ambient noise. I try to pay attention to people when they talk (I also like to read the link before I comment), so if I´m listening to a podcast, I am not reading and reading is much quicker. I know people who are perpetually wired to their phones, listening to whatever podcast/audiobook is blasting through their earphones (like my elderly mother) but the immediate evidence suggests that turns people´s brains into cheese whip.

(Ambient noise: {silence} noise of A/C.... distant dog bark... ... ... helo, headed this way from about ... 4 miles east ... that guy winding up his engine ... on commerce just to be a noisy jerk ... siren, coming across the river ... ok, he´s going through that light ... that guy who starts his engine up (old truck, ford, V8 ... 351?) at exactly 4 am.... it only stumbles on start when the temps are in the teens and below (he keeps it in good shape) ... bang ... bang bang bangbangbang ...bang bang... bang ... handgun, target practice (annoying) about 2 miles south might be 3... that loud and that rate of fire ... .45, M1911 if they´re conforming to stereotype ... {crick crick} deer wandering in to check for food ...

That´s the way my brain works - music can be ambient, people talking require attention.)

¨Do you want the Writing Prompts to continue?¨

Absolutely. More often please. It is a true story that I was here, on Substack, and it occurred to me that surely people wrote about poetry so I dug around a bit and then I did the total homer thing and typed ´poetry' in the search which generated results that were all over the place. So I took a breath and started scrolling through the results, and said, ´Oh, HEY! Tyler - I didn´t know you were over here' and then I subbed up.

¨Are you Actually enjoying The Matchbook on Fridays?¨

... links are fine but I think they work better tacked on to a substantial post, like Anne Helen does on Sunday over at Culture Study. And also, not on Friday, because everyone has the idea to dump things on Friday afternoon and suddenly there´s too much to respond to, so I wind up not responding to anything.

The writing prompts are the main reason I have had any creative breakthroughs in the past 6 months; definitely keep those!!

I really love what you have created here and enjoy it as is... but if you’ve got changes swirling about your brain, I am sure whatever you decide to do will be just as wonderful.

Personally, I am a wave. My participation comes and goes depending upon (gosh, everything)+ squirrel brain, but I ALWAYS read your posts and enjoy knowing they will appear... (A place to land).

I look forward to whatever you choose to give us. Thanks!

I think the best post was the one to your wife regarding your marriage. I would give so many things to hear someone say the same about me. I can't afford a paid subscription, I work for BC pulblic health treating dying infants and medically challenged children. There is a reason Canada's medical services are free. However, I have been told ++ lately that I shoulld write, so I find following the posts you do send free, are interestesting to see how you weave words together.
