I worry I am a vacuum. I came by it honestly, created from a childhood filled with abuse and neglect. But I am trying to change my ways. Thank you for your words.

I think we can all be vacuums from time to time, and largely, it's not even our faults. We are the product of our own upbringings, and while yes, we can do the work to change our own stars, it's really hard sometimes battling that.

Luckily I've only had a few vacuum people in my life so far. They *have* been incredibly difficult to handle. When we care and try to help we still need to remember to pull back and recognize when we are hurting ourselves. It's tough, God I wish everyone was more fan-like. Happy New Year!

I believe within the last year I've finally realized I don't have to be a fan for everyone who is a vacuum in my life. And what a freeing feeling that is. The timing of this subject is spot on for me thank you!

I didn’t respond last week, but you said you had many messages and responses that flooded in.... I was definitely reading with my mouth hanging open because every word was spot on.... I did so much overthinking, over analyzing, and rode a wild ride of emotions after reading. No pun intended, but it SUCKS when the vacuums in your life are your own family. Balance is definitely key, and I’ve noticed (I can only speak for my situation) that when you give those vacuums too much room to vroom around, they turn into one of those Roomba automatic vacuum robot thingys and start sucking things out of you automatically and continually. I made a choice a few months ago to turn the “Roombas” off, and engage w/ them less often, while fanning all others around me. And I love what Alena said above, we don’t have to be a fan for everyone whose a vacuum.... 🤙🏻💨✨
