We’re in the thick of a season that somehow, over the years, has blown up into something I don’t believe anyone centuries ago would have ever seen coming. The commercialism of this holiday season continues to astound me, and the pressure we all feel to always buy bigger, better gifts than we did the year before, seems to grow more intense with every year we age. We feel this, though we may not admit it out loud, we strain against the weight of it all.
