Every single one of us, to a person, knows someone who has served their country. We all do, they may be fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, grandparents, uncles, aunts, or best friends. We all know people who have aimed themselves at the most dangerous places on earth, willingly, to sacrifice their time, their energy, and often their lives, in the pursuit of something bigger, of an idea that was born centuries ago, and that matters still today, no matter how complicated and convoluted the word has become: Freedom. Honoring those who have served is bigger than politics, it’s bigger than politicians, and I believe it’s vital to send thanks where thanks is absolutely due.
