blackout poetry by Tyler Knott Gregson

I think art takes practice.

I think it art is a muscle, and like any muscle, we can train it to get stronger, to grow. I think Hope, is the same.

Today, I wanted to share a few blackout poems I have made that speak to hope, that feel like reminders to practice it. Especially now, especially with the way things feel.

I know so many of us have so many reasons to feel hopeless right now. I know we look around and see so many broken things, so many horrific headlines, and we wonder how much worse things can get. I know we feel tired, we feel bankrupt, both financially and spiritually, and we wonder if it’s just easier to doomscroll our way into something that resembles numbness. At least numb, we won’t feel it as much, right?

Below, I just want to talk a minute about hope, about how hard it is to find it now, and why it’s more important than ever to keep trying. I also want to jump a bit into craft, which is something I want to start doing more often. About how I end up making what I make, how I get there, and more important, why. You’re invited to join us, to add to the conversation, and even stick around as I mention something super secret and sneaky we’re working on right now. We’d love to have you with us.
