The 2025 Signal Fire Gift Guide!
Everyone's Doin One | The Matchbook 12.5.25
Everyone’s doin’ it, everyone’s hoppin’ on board, so why not me?! WHY NOT ME!?
It’s holiday time and while money is tight, life is short, so we may as well spend some on those we love and cherish. And if we’re gonna do that anyway, why wouldn’t we make sure we purchase things that directly support amazing people, amazing companies, and beautiful stuff that actually makes our lives BETTER?!
Fair warning, some self-promotion to come, because dammit I’m a struggling artist and if you don’t have the confidence to schlep the things you made that you’re proud of, what’s the point?
Here goes:
2025 Signal Fire Gift Guide!
A Signal Fire Subscription - Obviously this. This community, this place, this little newsletter that is so much more than that, changes lives. It’s built out of more love and more energy from me than you’ll possibly understand if I try to explain, so I won’t. It’s revelatory, it’s family, it’s cheaper than a damn cup of coffee a month. You can gift it, easily. Click the button below.
SIGNED + Personalized BOOKS by ME! - Shameless self-promotion, BUT, I decided to make available 10 copies totally personalized and signed for whomever you wish, of EACH of my 6 books for the first time ever, to sell to any of you who have always wanted to own one. 10 copies of each of Chasers of the Light, All The Words Are Yours, Wildly Into The Dark, Miracle In The Mundane, Illumination, and The Never Was. Unfortunately, this can only go to people in the USA from my website, but if you’re from out of country and are interested, shoot me an email. Warning, shipping is Extremely expensive, like $20+ for a book for all you out-of-USAers. Yikes. That said, copies are VERY limited.
2026 Calendars by ME! - Ok, this is the last “me” product I promise. But they really are f’ing awesome, and they help you go analog and who doesn’t love that? Plus, they are ALL TAKEN with my Fuji camera, so it’s like being inside my monthly Fuji Journal wrap up, ALL with new poetry to read! How fun is that? Real fun dudes. Real fun.
Camp Snap Screen-Free Digital Camera - If you wanna jump on board the “chronicle your whole life in photos” train that I’m on, but don’t wanna drop $1000+ for a Fuji camera, I got you. This badboy is $65, it’s screen free so it kills two birds with one stone: You get to take amazing photos with that delicious retro feel that we all love AND you don’t raise your damn screentime. What a win. Fully endorse this one.
Hammer Nutrition Endurolytes Fizz - Face facts, we’re all probably underhydrated. Ok, I’m not cause I drink tea all damn day, but even still, we are. These little fizzy badboys are AMAZING, and they are made right here in Montana. You drop one into 8oz of water, wait a minute, and then you have this delicious electrolyte drink with all the stuff your body needs. Pro-tip: Carry these when traveling and chug one right after you get off your flight. You’ll be ASTOUNDED how much better you feel. Weird one, but yeah, rad, and we use them ALL the time.
Echo Eternal Poetry Collection - My buddy
makes rad things, plain and simple. He does these SUPER limited edition poetry Zines, that are so fresh, so creative, and just so damn fun, I couldn’t NOT put one on this. Supporting our fellow small artists is crucial in this silly world of ours. We must, we must, we must. He’s my best friend and one of the very best.Aura Digital Photo Frame - We display our monthly Fuji Journal photographs on a digital frame in our kitchen, and it’s the best thing ever. We rotate the photos each month with the month that was before it, and it’s so amazing seeing images of the life we’re leading. This gift is amazing for anyone, grandparent to friend, but it really is a gift for yourself, too. Anyone will love it, I promise.
Handmake Some Shit - This one can cost as little or as much as you possibly want. Make something, with your hands, even if it’s a paper chain or a hand-made card or letter, it doesn’t matter. Make it, gift it, and watch as it takes over as best gift of the day. You don’t gotta spend a penny, you really don’t.
Amish Country Ladyfinger Popcorn - Because popcorn is the best, and because it’s the best popcorn there is. I don’t know what those Amish people do differently, or how they get the kernels to be so weirdly tiny and delicious, but they do, and I love them for it. Try it, pop it yourself at home, melt some butter, add some salt, and just be happy dammit. Just be happy.
Riff Raff Baked Goods Bread - If you live within 100 miles of Helena, Montana, or if you’re planning on visiting Montana, or if you just like bread, my wife’s bread and cookies are the best in the WORLD. Seriously. She even got voted a NextDoor Neighborhood Favorite both years in a row she’s been in business, which is basically like a Michelin Star if you ask me, so suck it fine dining. Buy some bread, support local, or if you’re far away, you can even order a “Helena” loaf that gets donated directly to Food Share in someone’s honor. Perfect far-away gift.
Carhartt Satin-Lined Winter Beanie - Ok this one is supposedly for people with longer hair, as the Satin lining inside keeps your hair from getting all mussed up, but I have normal length hair and I LOVE THIS because it’s warmer than the normal one. Yeah, quite a bit warmer, and it feels cool with the weird satiny lining. I wear a lot of “women’s” stuff and this is the best. Take the already-best beanie and make it better, why don’t ya?
Costco Gift Membership - Costco is suing Trump, which is freaking amazing, and with all the companies bending the knee, we should always support those that aren’t. Buy someone a gift membership, and in doing so provide them an opportunity to buy way too much of one item of food each time they go, AND stick it to the man in the process. Yep. It’s a twofer.
Liberty Puzzles Woodcut Puzzle - These, I’ll make no jokes about it, are a bit of a LUXURY item. I mean more than a bit, it’s an f’ing puzzle, but this is borderline heirloom gift. Which is why I gave one to Sarah for our anniversary on the “wood” anniversary. Liberty Puzzles is a small company based in Boulder, CO, and each piece is cut out of real wood and the shapes they use are INSANE AND BEAUTIFUL. They are art. And what’s rad is, you don’t have to pick their designs if you don’t want, you can order a Custom one. How insane is that?
Custom POEMS for you, by me - Ok I lied, last one about me, from me. Hey, we are a very very very small business (Just the two of us) so you gotta do what you gotta do, plus writing these is a passion project of mine. Basically, I take your story, your love, your joy, fear, ache, sorrow, whatever, and I turn it into a one of one custom poem. You get the ONLY one typed from my typewriter in the entire world. Forever. One of One. It’s for sure expensive, because it takes it SO very much out of me writing these, I really do try to become you. Anyway, yeah, they are beautiful and fun and so far I’ve had not a single upset customer, so that’s cool.
Hope - This one is cheesy (probably) and it’s hard (for sure) and while some say it’s free (it isn’t, it’s probably the most expensive item on this list) it’s by far the most important. Hope. Give it away, gift it to everyone you know. We’re BOMBARDED with a million reasons to be the opposite, sometimes it just takes ONE person, one reason, to hold onto it. BE hope to someone else, to everyone else. Offer it up like you have an unlimited reserve, change the way YOU see the world and then help others do the same. You have to try, you have to work, you have to choose every day to hold this hope, but man oh man is it worth it. Be mindful, be present, be here, and remind people that Hope and false positivity are two very, very different things. Be hope, give hope, and let’s get through all this together.
THERE you have it friends! The 2025 Signal Fire Gift Guide! If you wanna be super rad and add to this list in the comments, I’m in!
I hope this helps, I hope you found something on the little list that was worth gifting. Whatever you decide, I’m sure it’ll be perfect, cause guess what…
You are.
I love you all. Be good.
