Little Bits Of Light
Back from the lovely land of Scots, and it’s -15F here and I am not a happy camper. Nope. Not even a little. Sigh, here’s some links to warm YOU up, since I’m a frozen popsicle of a man.
I truly pour hours, and hours, and hours, and hours (you get the drill) into this here Signal Fire, and it truly is the labor of love that’s become my life. If you value this place, you can directly help me keep it going. It means more than I know to say:
Here’s the scoop, kids:
Why A Good Sense Of Humor Is An Essential Life Skill - Funny matters. Turns out, more than we realized it did. This article is a brilliant exploration into why having a keen sense of humor is an absolutely essential life skill, and the ways improving yours can improve your life as a whole. I knew there was a reason for being named Class Clown all those years ago. Phew.
New Banksy in Ukraine - Say what you will of Banksy (as if anyone would have anything negative to say other than 92 year olds that just want you off their lawn), the man knows how to hit the mark and make a huge statement with only a few colors and a stencil. These are breathtaking and speak volumes.
Prepare For Life’s Unforeseeable Moments - Shit happens. We know this to be true. Question is, can we be better prepared for it when it does, for our own reactions to said shit? Yes. We can. Here’s 7 ways to help make that happen for some of life’s annoying little buggers.
“Stonemason” by David MacDonald - Met this chap up on Skye, did a photoshoot for his new album cover (coming in 2023), and he treated us to a few live/acoustic songs. This is one that really moved me, about the love between his grandfather and grandmother, even through dementia and death. His granddad was a stonemason that built many of the houses on Skye, his grandmom raised the family. Oof.
How To Train Your Bladder - Weird one, I know, but I’m a “just in case” pee-er, and turns out that’s bad. Here’s a weirdly rad article on how we can be better at peeing, and not needing to go so much. Handy when you drink as much tea as I do. You come here for weird, so it’s weird you’ll get. Dammit.
Birki by Jonsi - Put this song on LOUD, pretend you’re sitting by a warm fire and listening to music. Close your eyes, breathe. Relax your shoulders. Unclench your jaw. You’re welcome.
I love you all.
