A bunch of new faces around these parts today! Welcome all of you to the calm madness that is the Signal Fire. I truly believe you’ll love it here. Also, the keen eyed viewer will recognize that the logo has changed for The Matchbook! Simple reason why: First, I recognized that the original was a matchBOX not a matchBOOK and that was weird. Second, I tweaked the Signal Fire logo and wanted it all to feel cohesive. So yeah, now it’s a matchbook and it also says Keep Away From Children, which is funny. ANYWAY, onto the links.

Here’s the scoop, kids:

Lord G’s Finds:

  1. Forget Happiness, Aim For Wonder - This is one I have long believed, long practiced, and long put my money where my mouth is. I’ve always seen happiness as a fleeting beast, something we cannot hold on tightly enough to, and so then mourn its passing. Wonder, however, is how I go through this planet, how I live, and it’s served me so very well. I can’t always be happy, I don’t want to be as there is so much sweetness too in sorrow, but wonder, my goodness, this is where I’ll always aim. Give this a listen, or read the transcript, it’s exactly what I’m talking about.

  2. 10 Worst Opening Lines In Music - Lyrics, like poetry, are hard. Plain and simple. Sometimes people nail it, sometimes, not so much, and when it comes to the FIRST line in a song, it can either grab you, or really, really not. Here are 10 famous times it went wrong. Any you would add to the

list?! Personally, I fully, FULLY agree with the U2 one, and it’s always bugged me so much: “Uno, Dos, Tres, CATORCE.” 1,2,3, 14. No. Just no.

  3. 50 Random Things That Turn Women On - I am posting this one for humor purposes ONLY. I don’t know if any of these are right, I don’t know if they are unique to only women, or if they apply to men, to non-binary, or anyone else identifying as anything else. I just wanted to see if any of you agree with any of these. Please, please ring in because some of them made me seriously giggle hahaha. What a ridiculous article, on a ridiculously named website, the Art of Manliness hahaha.

  4. 16 Steps To Finally De-Clutter Your Home - It’s Spring, and that means Spring cleaning, right? We’ve been doing exactly that, trying to whittle down and get rid of shit we don’t need. Turns out, there are some experts with expert ideas on how to do it more efficiently, and make your life a lot simpler and better. Here’s 16 ideas for you. One I liked: Think to Yourself: What's the Cost of Keeping This Item?

Lady G’s Finds:

  1. Vintage Bakery Rolling Rack - Our friend Levi so graciously gifted this to me, and I Love it so much. Now to find a place for it, find sheet pans to fill it (18” x 26” if anyone has any!) and to start cooling my beautiful bread on it! It’s magic, and it needs a name…ideas?

Even the wheels are a beautiful green!
  2. 4 Tier Bakery Cooling Rack - Tyler bought me this as a surprise, as I’m ALWAYS running out of counter space to cool all my baked goodies. This can expand to fit bread, shrink slightly to fit pastries, or go even slimmer for cookies, and it has 4 tiers, and it’s rose gold, and I LOVE IT.

  3. 100 Cookies by Sarah Kieffer - This is my go-to book for all things cookies, brownies, and desserts, and I love it. I always tweak the recipes a bit, which is fine, and this week I’ve been making her Snickerdoodles (without the cream of tartar OR coconut oil) and they are magnificent. If you’re at all a sweet tooth, this book is a must-have.

  4. Tyler’s Originals! - We’re still selling the 1 of 1 ORIGINAL Typewriter Series poems, and we’ve found the best way to do so is to just have you email, or DM him on Instagram and he can tell you the price and availability of ANY poem you’re looking for! If you don’t know the number, just tell him the first line, and he’ll track it down. WE LOVE YOU!

We love you all. Be good.
