Friday has come again, which means more random cool crap that I think your life needs. Here’s some links to gobble up like it’s turkey dinner on Thanksgiving or something cool like that.

Also, if you’re loving this newsletter, please consider helping me keep it going with a paid subscription. You get TWO extra newsletters each week (with fun writing prompts and discussion threads) and direct access to me, and to the most amazing community of fellow Light Chasers in the comments:

Here’s the scoop, kids:

  1. Lesser Known National Parks - Hate crowds? Me too. Here’s 5 lesser known, lesser visited, and abundantly freaking awesome National Parks that deserve a lot more love. Just don’t tell anyone, else they’ll be overrun too. Cool? Cool.

  2. Paint With Music - Google run, so it works, where what you paint turns into music. There are different instruments, different tones, and it’s as visually beautiful as it is aurally. Dig it.

  3. A Ferris Bueller Spin-Off - That’s right, another 80’s classic is getting a spin-off reboot, and it’s being run by the same people that did Cobra Kai, so it’s in good hands. This one follows the rad dudes that took Cameron’s Dad’s car for a joyride. Personally, I’m sold. These dudes:

    'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' spinoff
  4. Lagom, The Swedish Idea of “Just Enough” - Leave it to the Swedes to do it just right. Tim and I had a conversation about just this which makes this the second week Tim made an appearance in this here Signal Fire, but basically, it’s about having just what you need, just enough, and no more.

  5. Underrated Films From Iconic Filmmakers - We know their work, we know their legend, we know what they are known for most…here’s our chance to deeper dive into their most underrated films. There are some true gems on here, so work your way through. You know, if you want.

  6. Top Gun: Maverick - Look, I loved the first one, loved loved and it was a classic and a re-watch for me many times over my youth. To say I was skeptical about this is an understatement of epic proportions, to say I was worried, the same. Here’s what I have to say: It. Fucking. Rocked. I loved it, and I don’t care what anyone else says, they didn’t just do the first film justice, I think they surpassed it. Yeah, I said it.

  7. Poem Videos Of The Week - Another round of me being an idiot on camera. Oof.

You need to be nicer to yourself. You’re not “being an idiot on camera.” You’re being yourself: a silly and personable human who creates magic with words and radiates love and kindness. I look forward to it every day and see it on multiple platforms.

Thank you for including the dailies in this weekly for those of us with a haphazard relationship with social media- ‘tis lovely to “binge watch” them when time allows!
