For the first 9 years of my son's life, we traveled spontaneously, wherever, whenever ... Then tragedy stuck and we were homebound for the next 9 years being caregivers for a disabled loved one. That chapter of our life is now closed and my son graduated high school and turned 18 a month ago. Today we are getting on that airplane and going! We are going to stay on a tiny house boat on the St. Johns river in Florida and exploring the historic town of Sandford. Next week, my son will fly with his girlfriend to Texas to spend a week there and explore another new town. While, my love and I are flying to Montana and exploring Bozeman, Helena, Butte, and Jackson, WY. Places I've never been but always wanted to go. We have no agenda, we only plan to explore, meet new people, eat good food, find the good bookstores, and see majestic things I've never seen before. Then on Labor day, I'm going to Morrison, CO to see Gregory Alan Isakov perform at Red Rocks, a bucket list venue ... I am celebrating this new chapter of my life and I am going! I am time traveling once again!

This is fantastic. The perfect Signal Fire for me today as I start packing and preparing for my next trip! I've got two trips in the next few weeks, both of which will bring much needed time to relax, explore, connect with old friends, and feel alive. I will carry these beautiful words with me.

Time is a weird thing - my nephews & nieces see me as Ravenclaw Aunty Jo. Who is strong & capable, and able to endure many a Plank Minute (time that seems to slow when you're planking & gaining strength & fusing new synapses of learning, and resilience). Which is a hugely perceptive & gracious way of seeing their aunt - who us 9cm taller than social distancing.

I'm still Gryffindor Jo. The scrappy Hermione & one who is fiercely unafraid when it comes to sitting pretty while the others do the dirty work. No, thanks. We'll forever roll up our sleeves & make magic - together.
