The quiet I seek is both internal and external. Sometimes I get a taste of it when I'm driving up and down California, 7 hours of music to clear my head. Sometimes it's during a sunset when the sun peeks into my room at just the right angle and makes everything have beautiful shadows. Mostly, it's when I'm in the middle of a forest and I feel cold and warm, alone and together, tiny and infinite at the same time. It's when I walk barefoot out into the grass and feel the soil between my toes. The quiet I seek is in nothing and everything.

I have a difficult time with constant noise, and so I find my peace when I am in nature and all I can hear is the wind rustling the trees, my own feet walking across the trails, or possibly water flowing down the hill. That's where I find my quiet, when I'm in the outdoors, there's no hustle and bustle and there is no one else that I have to have conversation with. I enjoy feeling the breeze, the solidness of the earth under my feet. It's when I feel my most grounded, and when I feel safe.

I never seem to find the quiet I seek. It's exhausting that it's always out of reach.
