Beautiful! Thank you for sharing! I could just see this in my mind as you were sharing the reading, and then also sharing the whole story of the quiet concentrated moment of carving your initials on almost dried concrete. The photo brings it to Life for me. It is the little moments, it is.
So many little moments. Lately I have been making myself remember them more!
The first time I listened to your Sunday peace, I was tickled to hear that Gregory Alan Isakov is your friend. Around 15 years ago, before Brandi Carlile was a household name, we saw her at all her shows in Colorado. Gregory opened for her at many of her shows, including the Paramount in Denver, several times at Red Rocks, and at least a few other times.
He is amazing and what a blessing you both are to have your friendship!
It's always the little moments and I'm so thrilled you're adding more to your life. And as for the shows at Red Rocks: I WAS THERE! :) I was on stage with him taking photographs!
Thanks for sharing this sweet moment! Fresh cement! What an attraction for the young and curious in any city. I always wondered why we don’t put hand imprints or initials into fresh paint or dough ?!? Like our own lives, the freshness may fade and harden, but at least we have left an “impression” for others to see and wonder about… “who is that and where are they now?” Such whimsical and last minute meet-ups are almost always memorable (in the best ways).
You're welcome! Here's to fresh cement and the letters we scratch out! Funny add-on story: when we painted and textured our house when renovating, we all put our handprints into the walls first! Keen-eyed viewers can find them!
This is lovely....isn't it wonderful how , often, a memory comes back to us so vividly that we can once again "smell the smells", hear the sounds, relive the minutes.... isn't life a mystery???
This holds a special place for me as Gregory is family despite all the time apart without a proper hug....
I love this story! This is such an NYC story…I saw Gregory play last year in NYC; I didn’t know he was originally a South African like me…somehow that made him even more endearing. I will be in NYC in a few weeks and have plans to be in that neighborhood…I’ll have to swing by to see if your initials are still there. 💞

It's such a mystery, and such a fun one trying to uncover. Family, forever.
