It scares me how much it seeps, how deep it can penetrate. I for sure have revisited my thoughts, my memories, of all we studied in History class. Someone lived that, and it feels all the more potent now.

I'm grateful you have the words that can express what's in my heart. I've been struggling to find them. Nothing comes out when I try and yet here your words are. Thank you. Please keep writing. We need them. The world needs them.

I try to find the words but man, all of them feel heavy these days. Thank you for finding your way to these words. Thank you.

If you & Sarah get tired & w(e)ary? It's okay to rest. To pare back. To trim back at what saps your energy & doesn't replenish how you show up with your whole hearts.

Sending so much love to you both 🤍🤍

We are so very weary, but we go on. We go on.

In my heart, my greatest fear is the normalization of these horrors. We have to hold onto the belief that this is NOT normal, that hope and love and kindness will survive and win out. It will just take time, and effort. Your writing Tyler, is the effort, and to many of us, the catalyst that drives us to make the effort too. Looking at what is going on in the world head-on and saying THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE and ensuring that we keep our eyes to the good. I'm taking out the ''Maybe", because you are spot on:

Our job is to just find all the beauty that exists between the seconds that will lead us there, the minutes that will march us towards our own inevitabilities. We draw what we see, we turn it into novels, into poetry, into song.

We, in the middle of our deepest jungles, turn our faces to the light that finds its way through the leaves, close our eyes, and breathe.

Believe in a better world and we can make it happen. Thank-you Tyler!

I fear, and Fight, the normalization every single day. I refuse to become numb to it, I refuse to scroll past. We have to fix this. We have to. Thank you for showing up here, for hearing the hard things too, not just the good ones. Thank you for this.

Throughout American history, the actions of those in power has been only a been a small part of the perception of power they wish to project. And yet, real power has always remained with the people. They exert more influence and fear than real legal authority. Certainly they prey upon those in our country who are less able to fight back, using them as leverage for the masses. But here’s the thing the oppressors don’t want us to realize… Even though precious words themselves may not stop the hate, cruelty, and injustice ….Words bring hope. Words bring awareness. Words bring inspiration. I believe it is important to continue to write the words of hope, of truth, of principle even if we are in fear of the result. Lesser so for words of anger, hate, and threats. Even when the few have stood up to write or speak those words, they have not known whether that result may be silence, anger, or action. But they still stood up to create those words. For what is important is that everyone does what they can. And in times of crisis, just as we need people to act, we need writers to write, and speakers to speak.

I believe, inherently, that power remains with the people, but man I don't see it these days. We're at a place where OVERWHELMING information can come out to the depravity of the person who is "leading" this country, and everyone can know it, and he can simply say "Fake news" and it's let go. How do we express this power we "have" if we are helpless to actually DO anything right now? That's the question we should be asking.

As in the many protests against government corruption and policies in the last century, the collective voice of the people survives when it refuses to be silenced. This time is no better or worse. We all have a role to not succumb to feeling helpless. We must resist that. We all can standup (in our own way) and speak out. Words matter to those who fear them. Words impact the helpless. Our government is fearful of the power of its citizens and helpless to stop us when we speak out ( in many ways). Not with violence, but with words. We can use our voice of hope and truth to inspire and motivate.
